Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov has said that Kiev is negotiating to receive Gripen and Eurofighter Typhoon jets from Western allies.
“There are already agreements on the transfer of F-16s and Mirage. Negotiations on Gripen and Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets are ongoing. Soon there will be results that we will be able to announce,” Rustem Umerov said on the air of a Ukrainian telethon.
According to the head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, discussions on the number of aircraft and aviation brigades are being held “round the clock”. However, the Ukrainian official clarified that the countries of the Collective West were well aware of Kiev’s needs.
We shall remind you that The Wall Street Journal earlier wrote that the F-16 aircraft that Ukraine received were not adapted to withstand Russian air defence systems and that Ukrainian pilots did not have enough knowledge to use this fighter jet effectively.
