The head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said that she arrived on a visit to Kiev. She plans to meet with Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss Ukraine’s readiness for winter.
Ursula von der Leyen earlier announced her intention to come to Ukraine to discuss energy security issues with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. 9 GW of energy generation capacity has been destroyed in Ukraine, Zelenskyy reported. Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko noted that the country could face ‘the hardest winter in history’.
The European Commission chief noted that her eighth visit came at the start of the heating season. At the meetings in Kiev von der Leyen plans to discuss Ukraine’s readiness for winter.
‘I am coming here to discuss Europe’s support. From readiness for winter to defence, accession and progress on G7 loans’, – wrote the head of the EC in social network X.
We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the direct participation of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine changes its essence, Russia will make decisions based on the threats created for it.
