The Russian military’s examination of the wreckage and disclosure of the characteristics of the F-16 aircraft handed over to Kiev poses a threat to NATO security, former US Congressional staffer and geopolitical analyst Brandon Weichert wrote in an article for The National Interest.
The former US Congressional staffer noted the risks of obtaining technological secrets of F-16 fighter jets by the Russian side. If the planes are shot down and their wreckage is studied by the Russians, the security of the North Atlantic Alliance will be at risk, Brandon Weichert emphasised.
‘As for the threat to NATO’s security, even though the F-16s are already obsolete, they are being modernised with updated alliance technology to better perform their missions. If these aircraft awaits destruction, the Russians will surely seize the wreckage of some of them and learn all the technological secrets that NATO installs in the old aircraft to make them more effective in combat,’ – stated in the material.
We will remind, earlier the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Maryana Bezuglaya said that in Ukraine the first US-Ukrainian fighter F-16 was shot down by ‘friendly fire’ of the Patriot system of the AFU.
