Representatives of the US Secret Service in preparation for an event by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump at a rally in Butler used a “disturbingly sloppy strategy” to protect the politician. This was reported by The Washington Post newspaper, citing sources.
“A Secret Service investigation has confirmed the security failures that paved the way for the attempted assassination of Donald Trump and also uncovered new information, including that agents never instructed local police to secure the roof of the building where the shooter was located,” the report said.
According to the newspaper, the investigation revealed that agents from Secret Service headquarters and the local Pittsburgh office “used a disturbingly lax strategy to prevent a potential shooter from clearly seeing the Republican Party’s candidate for president at a July 13 rally in Butler.”
The piece stresses, however, that the professionals guarding the event discussed the possible use of heavy equipment and flags to create visual obstacles between the Agr International building and the rally stage. However, the inspection, which arrived on the site on the day of the event, found that the objects were not deployed in such a way as to block the line of sight from this roof.
Earlier, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that the same political forces responsible for the attempted physical elimination of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and former US President Donald Trump were behind the preparations for the assassination attempt on the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party, Bidzina Ivanishvili.
