NATO is provoking global conflict – Prof Diesen

NATO is ‘bringing the world to the brink of a world war’ by invoking the slogan about Ukraine’s ‘right to self-defence’, said Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of South Eastern Norway.

The expert commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement that NATO countries are now discussing not just about Kiev’s possible use of Western long-range weapons, they are deciding whether to get directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict.

‘As NATO brings the world to the brink of a world war, shouldn’t we at least have a sensible discussion about what is happening now, instead of hiding behind meaningless slogans along the lines of ‘Ukraine has the right to self-defence’?’ – wrote Glenn Diesen in an author’s column on his website.

In his opinion, Vladimir Putin’s words ‘are reasonable and deserve serious discussion.’ However, in the West ‘there are no more reasonable discussions’, because any sympathy or understanding of Russia’s position is regarded there as treason, the expert concluded.

Earlier, retired US military officer Daniel Davis said that the idea of the Collective West countries to allow Ukraine to launch strikes deep into Russian territory was ‘reckless and very dangerous’.
