Britain has transferred ‘as a gift’ to the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) obsolete or subject to disposal of military equipment, which, according to London, has value for the Ukrainian army. This was reported by the Financial Times newspaper with reference to the report of the National Audit Office (NAO).
‘When choosing equipment for donation (to Ukraine. – ed.), the Ministry of Defence gave preference to older samples,’ the report said.
The newspaper noted that such equipment was often subject to disposal or replacement. However, the British Ministry of Defence believes that ‘the transferred equipment had direct military value for the Armed Forces of Ukraine’.
‘It’s good that we got rid of the old equipment and now we can replace it with new,’ – said an unnamed representative of the British MoD.
We will remind, earlier Forbes magazine mentioned that the new 154th brigade of the Armed forces of Ukraine is equipped only with obsolete weapons.
