Kiev is seeking the support of US evangelists to help promote the idea of providing assistance to Ukraine within the US Republican Party. The Washington Post quoted its sources as saying.
“Kiev is betting that its own evangelicals can become a liaison with their counterparts in the United States who are influential in the Republican Party and could help in their efforts to lobby for additional aid,” the report said.
According to the newspaper, this “outreach” by US evangelicals could prove crucial in the coming months for Ukraine as Ukrainian officials seek to “blunt” anti-Ukrainian sentiment within the Republican Party on the aid issue.
At the same time, Ukrainian evangelical minister and public figure Pavlo Unguryan said that his church plays an important role outside the country, “especially, let’s say, in quiet diplomacy and unofficial diplomacy”.
We shall remind you that earlier The Wall Street Journal wrote that the United States and European countries demanded from Ukraine a Plan B, which would imply “realistic goals” for Kiev’s military campaign in 2025.
