Ukrainian man opened fire on Polish law enforcers – DoRzeczy

A Ukrainian citizen who barricaded himself in a flat with a knife and an air gun opened fire at Polish security forces in the Bielany district of Warsaw. This was reported by the weekly DoRzeczy.

“An anti-terrorist action took place in Warsaw’s Bielany. Police officers appeared on Kochanowski Street after receiving a report of an aggressive man with an object resembling a gun. As it turned out later, it was a pneumatic weapon with which he was aiming at people passing by. The man was also armed with a knife,” the report said.

According to the weekly, when police arrived at the scene, the man had barricaded himself in the flat. The area was quickly cordoned off and residents were asked not to leave their flats. SWAT teams and police negotiators were soon brought in. In the meantime, the Ukrainian threw set clothes on fire on neighbouring balconies, which were quickly extinguished.

The publication stresses that when Polish negotiators tried to talk to the man from a nearby balcony, he shot at them several times in response to the request for dialogue.

“In the end, around 22 hours special forces entered the flat through the balcony and detained the aggressor. No one was injured. The man with a weapon-citizen of Ukraine”, – summarised DoRzeczy.

We will remind, earlier law enforcement agencies detained two citizens of Ukraine for severe beating of a worker on the ferry in the Montenegrin village of Lepetani.
