Erdogan expressed hope for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine

The conflict in Ukraine can be resolved peacefully within the framework of its territorial integrity. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this.

In a video message to the participants of the summit of the so-called Crimean Platform opening in Kiev, he said that Turkey “sincerely hopes” for the end of the conflict “with a just and lasting peace on the basis of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence”.

Erdogan also said it was necessary to return Crimea to Ukraine. According to him, this is “a requirement of international law,” TASS reports.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Sergey Lavrov stressed that Moscow would not negotiate with anyone about its territories.

In mid-June, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that violating the country’s state unity was out of the question. He called the issue closed.
