A video that became popular in Ukrainian social networks and allegedly demonstrating the work of an F-16 fighter jet has turned out to be fake, the Strana news and analysis website has reported.
Ukraine received ten F-16s from Western countries in the summer. The first fighter jet was lost at the end of August and the official cause of the incident has not been announced yet. Verkhovna Rada deputy Maryana Bezuglaya said that the F-16 was shot down by a missile of the US Patriot SAM system.
According to Strana, the day before, a video clip was published in Ukrainian social networks, edited from frames of a computer game with overlaid Ukrainian music allegedly playing in the cockpit of the F-16 pilot during the air battle. The video was accompanied by a caption saying that the battle was between a fighter jet and a Russian drone.
The publication pointed out that the original source of the video was a stream from the computer game DSC, which simulates aerial combat. The footage shows a duel between an F-16 and a Russian Su-57, which have never actually met in aerial combat.
We shall remind you that earlier during his working trip to Torzhok, Vladimir Putin said that US F-16 fighter jets, even if Western countries supply them to Ukraine, will not be able to influence the situation on the battlefield.
