Duma deputy Belik called Scholz’s words about Ukraine talks a ploy

State Duma deputy and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee Dmitry Belik has commented on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s remarks about negotiations on the Ukrainian conflict.

RIA Novosti reports his words.

According to the deputy, Scholz’s statement should be perceived as a ploy.

‘Today, Scholz is a trial balloon that the West is launching towards Russia to probe the ground for possible negotiations and then demand concessions,’ Belik said.

He believes that the West sees no other way to resolve the conflict, but it is unacceptable for Russia.

In fact, the deputy noted, the West is not interested in negotiations, as US corporations earn large sums on arms deliveries.

Earlier, Scholz said that the conflict in Ukraine has reached the point where it is necessary to start discussing ways to end it as soon as possible.

It also became known that Scholz was preparing his own plan for a peaceful settlement.
