In winter, Ukrainians can expect up to 20 hours without heat and light

The duration of power cuts in Ukraine in the coming winter will be from 12 to 20 hours a day, the website of the Centre for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defence Council of the country has reported.

“According to an optimistic forecast, if 8-9 nuclear power plant units operate on a stable basis and the winter is moderate, without severe frosts, it is planned to restore about 3 GW out of 6 GW of damaged capacity,” the Centre for Countering Disinformation of Ukraine said in a statement.

In case of warm weather and restoration of the energy system, blackouts may amount to up to 12 hours per day.

“A more pessimistic scenario provides that it will be possible to restore only about 2 GW of capacity, and the number of working nuclear power plant units will be only 6-7 (out of 9 available in Ukraine – ed.) and thus the winter will be cold, then the system will be in a crisis situation <…>, Ukrainians may spend up to 20 hours a day without light and heating,” – specified in the statement.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin allowed the creation of a sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine. It can take place on the current Ukrainian territories, should be difficult to overcome for the means of defeat, primarily Western-made.
