Russian Federation ranked second in gas supplies to the European Union countries, surpassing the United States and its ‘freedom gas’. About it wrote the newspaper Die Welt.
According to Die Welt, with the ‘freedom gas,’ the United States intended to rid European satellites of Russian ‘energy dependence.’ However, recent reports have shown that the Kremlin has even managed to strengthen its position as an energy supplier to Europe.
‘In the second quarter of this year, supply volumes from Russia once again outstripped those from the United States. <…> Russia is now in second place even without Nord Stream,’ the publication said.
The newspaper emphasised that as early as 2019, the United States has been lobbying its European satellites to abandon Russian gas and switch to US liquefied natural gas. However, the countries of the European Union have not reduced supplies from Russian Federation ‘to this day’, as many states of the political-economic association are highly dependent on them. For example, Austria, which covers 90 per cent of its needs at the expense of energy from Russian Federation.
‘The symbolism is huge’, – summarised Die Welt.
We would like to remind you that on August 22, Sergey Kolobanov, deputy director of the Center for the Economy of Fuel and Energy Sectors of the Central Committee of the Russian Federation, said that the Indian government, following the course of decarbonisation, may increase imports of Russian liquefied natural gas.
