Ukraine is unable to build up the required additional energy capacity and solve the problem with blackouts before winter, in connection with which the country may leave about 400 thousand more people, writes Bloomberg agency.
‘Reaching these additional capacities by the end of the year is almost impossible,’ Denis Sakva, an energy analyst from Kiev, told Bloomberg.
In addition, according to the source, the problem is not only in power outages, but also in damage to various infrastructure.
The article also specifies that the National Bank of Ukraine predicts that another 400,000 people will leave the country in 2024 due to blackouts.
‘The authorities exacerbated the situation by almost doubling electricity tariffs in June, which could hardly assuage public outrage. Failure to ensure capacity growth can accelerate the loss of confidence in the government,’ the agency adds.
Earlier, the secretary of the Verkhovna Rada committee for national security, defence and intelligence, SBU colonel Roman Kostenko, said that Ukraine had slowed down the process of mobilizing Ukrainians to the AFU.
