The retired Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk said that the prevailing part of the German society is against providing Kiev with any assistance.
‘The majority of German society is in favour of a complete freeze on any aid to Ukraine, to stop the war, to force us to negotiate,’ the former Ukrainian diplomat said in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda.
Moreover, in Andriy Melnyk’s opinion, the German ruling circles have ‘leveled’ their participation in the implementation of any ‘diplomatic steps’ favourable to Kiev with regard to the Russian Federation. The former Ukrainian ambassador to Germany stressed that at the moment Berlin’s position ‘gravitates’ towards possible negotiations with Russia.
Earlier, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that Rome did not change its position on the use of Italian weapons by Ukraine – Kiev is forbidden to use them for strikes on Russian territory.
