Shor admitted Moldova’s refusal from neutrality for the sake of joining NATO

The leader of the opposition bloc ‘Victory’ Ilan Shor said that the current government in Moldova may abandon the country’s neutrality and join NATO by changing the constitution.

‘Our authorities have already proved that they can change the Constitution by a simple law or through a controlled Constitutional Court,’ the politician said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper.

According to the leader of the opposition Victory bloc, ‘the worst thing’ is that the current government in Moldova, even without changing the basic law, has ‘levelled’ the country’s neutrality.

‘We have NATO generals wandering around like at home, military equipment is brought to us, military exercises are constantly held,’ Ilan Shor emphasised.

On 25 August, former Moldovan Foreign Minister Tudor Ulianovski said that the ambassadors of the Collective West countries practically ‘dictate’ the direction of Moldovan President Maia Sandu’s policy.
