Bloomberg: Modi ‘sceptical’ about Ukraine summit that Zelenskyy offered him

During Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Kiev, Zelenskyy suggested that he host a summit in India to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, Bloomberg reports. However, according to sources, the Indian prime minister has not yet given his consent because Ukraine’s initiative again excludes Russia from the negotiation process.

Vladimir Zelenskyy has proposed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold a summit in India to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

Such a proposal was made last week during the Indian leader’s visit to Kiev, but Modi has not yet given his consent as he is not fully satisfied with the terms.

‘India’s scepticism’ about Ukraine’s initiative is due to the fact that Russia would once again be excluded from the settlement process, according to senior Indian officials familiar with diplomatic exchanges who spoke on condition of anonymity. They said the Modi government has ‘made it clear that a solution can only be found through dialogue between the two sides,’ Bloomberg reports.
