Turkish parliament speaker: a number of countries did not want to end the conflict in Ukraine

Some countries did not want to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine when there was a chance to settle the problem in Istanbul in 2022.

This was stated by the speaker of the Turkish Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş on the air of Habertürk TV channel.

He said at that time the sides ‘almost reached the final point’ to achieve a fair and balanced peace acceptable to both sides, with a number of conditions.

‘In the Dolmabahçe talks, the issue almost reached the signing stage. But unfortunately, some countries did not want the conflict to end,’ RIA Novosti quoted Kurtulmuş as saying.

At the same time, the parliament speaker stressed that Washington was trying to consolidate the continent through the conflict in Ukraine and baffle Russia with a serious problem.

Earlier, the director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergey Naryshkin, pointed to the impossibility of negotiations with Ukraine at the moment.

Also, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitriy Peskov, said that the topic of negotiations with Kiev has lost its relevance at the moment.

The deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitriy Medvedev, also ruled out the possibility of negotiations with Kiev against the background of what is happening in Kursk Region.
