Pentagon awards $5bn worth of contracts to support and modernise F-35s

The US has signed contracts with defence industrial corporation Lockheed Martin for a total of about $5 billion to provide a list of services to support, upgrade and development programme for the fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets.

According to the agency, the largest contract is valued at more than $3.9 billion and has a fixed price and term of performance until September 2028.

Earlier, the Pentagon signed a contract with Oshkosh for the production of heavy army vehicles.

The Pentagon has also struck a $12.5bn deal to modernise the US Air Force globally.
