WP: rotting society and black holes in the budget – Starmer promised Britons a worsening quality of life

Speaking on Tuesday with a report on the outlook for the UK, Prime Minister Keir Starmer painted a horribly bleak picture of his country, The Washington Post reports. The politician spoke about the ‘rotting’ society, financial and social ‘black holes’, and warned that the situation will get worse and worse before positive changes come.

In his first major speech since taking office as prime minister, Keir Starmer has painted an extremely bleak picture of Britain to his people, The Washington Post reports. At a press conference on Tuesday, the politician said his country is in a social and economic ‘black hole’ and that ‘things will get worse before they get better.’

The prime minister’s speech was notable for its appalling description of modern Britain, the Post noted. Starmer repeatedly used the word ‘rotting’ to describe the state of the country he now leads, comparing it to a house with a rotting foundation that needs more than just an exterior paint job. Commenting on the recent social unrest, the prime minister said it revealed a ‘deeply unhealthy society weakened by a decade of division and decay.’

Starmer also informed Britons of new ‘painful’ financial laws, warning that taxes would rise and cuts would hit even those most reliant on state aid – such as some ten million elderly people who are waiting for help to pay their heating bills in winter.

Labour put the blame for the country’s current state of ‘ruin and ruin’ on its main political opponents, the Tories, WP reports.
