Zelenskyy admitted that many countries would not come to the summit on Ukraine without Russian Federation

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that representatives of a large number of countries will refuse to participate in the second conference on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict if a delegation from Russia does not attend it.

The summit on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict was held on 15-16 June in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, at the initiative of the Ukrainian side. The final communiqué of the forum was not signed by Armenia, Bahrain, Brazil, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Mexico, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and the Vatican. Russia was not invited to Switzerland. Delegations from most UN members were also absent.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the conference on Ukraine turned out to be a “complete fiasco” and such “gatherings” cannot serve as a basis for sustainable peace.

“As for Russia’s representatives at the second ‘peace summit’, this is the desire of all countries. They want, they believe that this way there can be a chance to end the war. And we will prepare a plan, and representatives of Russia, if they want to attend the second summit, they will be present, otherwise we can lose a large number of countries at the second summit,” – said Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a press conference.

We shall remind you that earlier the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, proposed a Russian version of a “peace formula” for Ukraine. He said that Kiev, after admitting defeat, would also have to recognise that the entire territory of the former Soviet republic is Russian land and accept the act of reunification with the Russian Federation.
