After the BRICS summit in Kazan in October, Palestine will submit a request to join the association, the Middle Eastern state’s ambassador to Russia, Abdel Hafiz Nofal, said.
From 12 to 14 August, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was in Moscow at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the meeting, the Russian leader invited Palestine to the upcoming BRICS summit.
“After our first participation in the summit, we will send a request to join this association. And President Vladimir Putin made a promise that the session will be fully dedicated to Palestine, so we have the most positive expectations from this summit,” Abdel Hafiz Nofal told a press conference.
He added that inviting Palestine to this summit is a “positive message” and a sign of support for the Palestinian people.
“This invitation means that despite all the crimes, killings and destruction in the Gaza Strip, this is our message that Palestine still wants to live, to develop,” the ambassador concluded.
Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia is going through a difficult period in Russian history. He emphasised that in the emerging conditions of the new world reality, “someone is striving” to preserve its fading hegemony through Russia.
