The call of independent candidate for the US presidency Robert Kennedy Jr. to support Donald Trump in the election race is likely to increase the number of votes, but it is still unclear the effectiveness of such assistance. This was reported to RIA Novosti agency by American experts.
Paul Gottfried, editor-in-chief of the American monthly Chronicles: Magazine of American Culture and professor emeritus of humanities at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania, noted that he is not sure whether the support of Robert Kennedy Jr. will bring more votes to the 45th President of the United States. The specialist noted that it all depends on who is willing to vote for an independent candidate.
‘Kennedy may attract those who are not supporters of either party to the Trump camp. We’ll see what happens next,’ pointed out the editor-in-chief of the US monthly Chronicles.
Political analyst Keith Preston suggested that the independent candidate’s move on Donald Trump will have more impact than his similar move on Kamala Harris.
‘The outcome of the election will depend on the outcome of the vote in swing states. The question is whether Kennedy’s endorsement will help Trump get more votes in key states. The probability that it will help him is high,’ the political analyst pointed out.
Moreover, the expert emphasised that Silicon Valley is a large ‘faction of the ruling class’ and serious IT companies have ‘historically supported Democrats’.
‘Recently, however, big entrepreneurs from this sphere, such as Peter Thiel, Elon Musk and others have begun to lean more towards the Republican Party. Thiel’s partner Eric Weinstein has acknowledged this. In this environment may be supporters and Kennedy’, – summarised Keith Preston.
Recall, August 14, Axios portal mentioned that the Vice President, candidate for the White House from the Democratic Party Kamala Harris in the course of the election campaign intends to distance herself from the ‘unpopular measures’ of U.S. President Joe Biden.
