Senator Dzhabarov said that the West is trying to drag Georgia into a conflict with Russia

Western countries are trying in every possible way to drag Georgia into a direct conflict with Russia over Abkhazia and South Ossetia, First Deputy Chairman of the International Committee of the Council of the Russian Federation Vladimir Dzhabarov said in his Telegram channel.

‘It is difficult to justify the participation of (Georgian President) Salome Zurabishvili in the summit of the so-called ‘Crimean Platform’ from the point of view of Georgia’s national interests. Unless this trip may have significance for the Georgian president as a spokesman for the position of the French Foreign Ministry, of which she was an employee,’ Vladimir Jabarov wrote.

The senator stressed that through the ‘Crimean platform’ Kiev seeks to involve other countries in actions aimed at violating Russia’s territorial integrity. According to him, Zurabishvili proposed the creation of a similar ‘Caucasus platform’ to put pressure on Moscow.

‘Using such initiatives, the West is trying by all means to drag Georgia into a conflict with us over Abkhazia and South Ossetia. To get the Georgian leadership out of the way, which did not want to turn Georgia into a battering ram against Russia following the example of Ukraine, Washington has once again started preparing a colour revolution in Tbilisi… We understand that Abkhazia and South Ossetia have already become independent states recognised by our country, and it is impossible to return these territories to Georgia,’ Jabarov concluded.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
