Putin said of Ukraine’s attempts to attack the Kursk nuclear power plant

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Ukraine attempted to strike the Kursk nuclear power plant last night, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been informed about the situation and promised to send its staff to the scene.

 

“The enemy tried to strike a nuclear power plant at night today,” the Russian president said at a meeting on the situation in Russia’s border regions.

The Russian leader emphasised that the International Atomic Energy Agency has been informed, “they promise to come themselves and send specialists to assess the situation”.

“I hope that in the end it will be done from their side”, – stated Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, the Financial Times mentioned that the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, intends to visit the Kursk nuclear power plant next week.
