AFU commanders blame mobilised soldiers for failures in east – AP

Poorly trained mobilised Ukrainians are one of the reasons for Kiev’s territorial losses in the Donetsk region. This was reported by the Associated Press news agency with reference to AFU commanders.

According to the Associated Press, the mobilised do not receive even the lowest level of training necessary for combat operations. Some Ukrainians refuse to shoot anyone at all.

“They see the enemy in a firing position in the trenches, but they don’t open fire. That’s why our people are dying. When they don’t use weapons, they are ineffective. Fear creates panic and chaos. This is also the reason for our defeats,” said the battalion commander of the 47th Brigade.

The publication emphasises that other Ukrainians had difficulty assembling weapons or coordinating basic combat movements, lacking basic knowledge of topography. Some simply ran away from their positions.

Commanders and soldiers of the four brigades involved in the fighting in the Pokrovsk area said that the mobilised did not have even the minimum level of training.

At the same time, a military expert from the Ukrainian think tank Defence Strategies Centre, Viktor Kevlyuk, pointed out that the AFU brigade commanders were “looking for explanations for tactical failures” by shifting the blame to the new recruits.

Just to remind you, the Strana newspaper earlier mentioned that three companies of the second battalion of the 15th operational brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine “refused to carry out combat orders” in the Pokrovskyy district.
