Robert Kennedy – Jr. is considering withdrawing his candidacy for US President to join forces with Donald Trump, Reuters reports. The independent candidate explains his intention with a strong reluctance to win the Democrats. Trump, in turn, said that Kennedy is a ‘brilliant guy’ and that he is ready to accept him into his team.
Independent US presidential candidate Robert Kennedy – Jr. is considering withdrawing from the presidential race to join forces with Republican rival Donald Trump, Reuters writes. This was announced on Tuesday by Kennedy aide Nicole Shanahan.
The vice presidential candidate explained that by running as independents, she and Kennedy risk pulling away support from potential Trump voters and clearing the way for Democrats to win the election. ‘Or we’ll leave right now and team up with Donald Trump,’ Shanahan suggested.
Upon learning this, Trump said he would ‘certainly be open’ to accepting Kennedy into his administration if an independent candidate drops out of the race and endorses him.
‘I like him and I respect him. He’s a brilliant guy. A very smart guy. I’ve known him for a long time,’ Reuters quoted Trump as saying. – I didn’t know he was thinking about getting out of the race, but if that’s really the case, of course I would be open to it.’
