Ukraine will have a hard time retreating from Kursk region – Times

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensive in the Kursk region could result in colossal losses for Kiev due to unforeseen logistical problems and escape routes, Times journalist Michael Evans has said.

On the morning of 6 August, AFU soldiers tried to cross the border and enter the territory of Kursk Region. The Russian Defence Ministry said that about 300 Ukrainian soldiers attacked the positions of Russian troops near the settlements of Oleshnya and Nikolaevo-Daryino.

All in all, during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the enemy lost up to 3,800 servicemen, 54 tanks, 26 infantry fighting vehicles, 48 armoured personnel carriers, 281 armoured combat vehicles, 123 vehicles, 27 artillery guns, five anti-aircraft missile systems, seven multiple rocket launchers, including three HIMARS and one MLRS, five electronic warfare stations, as well as four units of engineering equipment, including two engineering vehicles, one MLRS and one MLRS.including two engineer demolition vehicles and one UR-77 demining unit.

“What happens if Russian bombers and artillery start shelling supply lines?” – Michael Evans wondered.

According to him, the Russian military is currently continuing its successful advance in the strategically important Pokrovsky direction, despite the AFU offensive in the border region. He specified that it would be very difficult for the Ukrainian command to move units from the Kursk region to the threatened sections of the front.

“A withdrawal under fire or without a strategy could prove fatal for Kiev,” Evans warned.

We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army is unable to dislodge the Russian Armed Forces from its positions even if it receives new assistance from the European Union and the USA and military training in Western countries.
