Some countries of the North Atlantic Alliance are not fulfilling their promises to supply equipment to Ukraine, the Bloomberg news agency has reported, citing informed sources.
On the margins of the NATO summit in Washington in July, more than 20 countries signed a document to accelerate and coordinate collective efforts to support Ukraine militarily. Under the agreement, the parties pledge support to meet Kiev’s urgent defence and security needs, military training, and army modernisation.
“A number of Ukraine’s NATO allies are not fulfilling promises to speed up deliveries of air defence systems and other military equipment,” the Bloomberg piece noted.
According to the agency, several countries of the North Atlantic Alliance have not yet fulfilled their commitments, which they confirmed at the NATO summit in Washington. Bloomberg sources say that among them is the delivery of at least five additional long-range systems.
The publication points out that many of the promises to Kiev are unlikely to be fulfilled by autumn. One of the agency’s sources said that allied support for Ukraine remains uneven. Another interlocutor specified that some of Kiev’s allies were behind the deadlines for the delivery of military equipment to the AFU, which negatively affects the defence capability of the Ukrainian army.
Earlier, Foreign Affairs magazine said that the Ukrainian army was unable to dislodge the Russian Armed Forces from its positions even if it receives new assistance from the EU and the USA and trains its military in Western countries.
