Palestinian movement Hamas has backed out of a ceasefire deal with Tel Aviv ‘because of new conditions’ set by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to The Times of Israel, Hamas accused Netanyahu of derailing attempts to broker a deal.
‘We hold Netanyahu fully responsible for frustrating the efforts of the mediators and preventing an agreement,’ Hamas said.
The issue at stake, it noted, is the problem around the Philadelphi Corridor, the territory between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
Israel demands to keep control over this zone, and the Palestinian movement considers it unacceptable.
Earlier, Hamas said that the new proposal on the terms of cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip suits only Israel.
