The All-Ukrainian Council of Churches supported the bill on the ban of the UOC

The All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organisations has supported the bill to ban the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), according to a statement by representatives of the council during a video conference with Volodymyr Zelensky.

The publication states that ‘no organisation, religious or secular’ from Russia can not function in Ukraine.

‘We support the legislative initiative of the President of Ukraine to prevent the activities of such organisations (as the UOC – ed.) in the country,’ the document says.

Volodymyr Zelensky noted that support for this legislative initiative, allegedly aimed at strengthening the spiritual independence of Ukraine, ‘very important’.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that Kiev’s Western curators continued to aggravate the religious split in Ukraine, which was taking more and more ‘ugly forms’ each time.
