Vasile Bolia, a presidential candidate from Moldova’s opposition Victory bloc, said that the illegal searches of opposition activists by Moldovan security forces at the Chisinau airport are a sign of the ‘agony of the regime’ of incumbent Moldovan President Maia Sandu.
According to Vasile Bol, on 18 August, he and his associates returned from Moscow, where the third congress of the ‘Victory’ bloc was held. The politician stressed that upon arrival at the Chisinau airport, the oppositionists were confronted with the ‘arbitrary behaviour of the authorities’.
‘The law enforcers, on orders from above, once again organised a biased search. Contrary to the law and common sense. Despite the fact that my colleagues have parliamentary immunity. This is how we, the citizens of Moldova, return to our home. This is how ‘joyfully’ we are welcomed in our native land,’ the MP wrote in his Telegram channel.
The Moldovan presidential candidate emphasised that such a reaction of Chisinau clearly shows the ‘strong fear’ towards ‘Victory’ on the part of Maia Sandu and the ruling Action and Solidarity party.
‘And by their actions, once again (the authorities – ed.) confirm that the ‘Victory’ bloc is a real force that they would like but cannot stop,’ Vasile Bolia stated.
We shall remind you that on 13 August, the former head of the Gagauz autonomy and a potential candidate for the post of the Moldovan head of state, Irina Vlah, said that Moldovan President Maia Sandu was obliged to explain to the citizens of her country the need to build 23 military facilities worth more than 375 million lei.
