NATO satellites will stop working in case of direct conflict with Russia – Ritter

NATO space satellites will cease to function if the North Atlantic Alliance countries engage in direct conflict with Russia, former US military intelligence officer Scott Ritter has said.

The expert said that in case of a full-scale armed clash between Russia and NATO, the Russian Armed Forces would put the North Atlantic Alliance’s satellites out of action.

“If we ever find ourselves in a real war with Russia, the first thing that will happen is that all our satellites will stop working, they will be destroyed. <…> That’s our Achilles’ heel, and Russia knows it,” Scott Ritter said on the YouTube channel “Through the Eyes of”.

According to the former intelligence officer, the U.S. and its allies depend on a functioning satellite constellation. The elimination of spacecraft will lead to the fact that the entire defence system will cease to function in the usual mode of management of troops, he concluded.

We shall remind you that earlier Scott Ritter said that the Western F-16 fighter jets handed over to Kiev would not be able to change the position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the line of contact.
