The Russian Armed Forces are successfully breaking through the Ukrainian defence lines in Donbas, and the situation is especially difficult for the AFU in the Pokrovsk direction, US economist and Columbia University professor Jeffrey Sachs has said.
The expert spoke about the significant advance of the Russian army in Donbas.
“Russia is already making very significant and rapid breakthroughs on the contact line in Donbas,” Jeffrey Sachs said in an interview with the YouTube channel “Judging Freedom”.
According to him, the situation for the Ukrainian army is difficult in the Pokrovsk direction. These positions are extremely important in terms of logistics, the economist noted.
“Ukraine has pulled to this area the key parts of its remaining armed forces, both equipment and the most important brigades, and thus freed vulnerable areas in other parts of the contact line,” the expert concluded.
Earlier, Jeffrey Sachs urged the Ukrainian authorities to immediately sit down at the negotiating table.
