US realises need to end standoff in Ukraine – Brien

The US and Europe are beginning to realise the need to end the armed conflict before the fall of the AFU, said former Pentagon assistant deputy Stephen Brien.

“Ukraine is steadily losing ground on the battlefield and suffering heavy casualties. It is unclear how long this can continue, but it is possible that analysts in the US and Europe are beginning to realise the need to end the war before the Ukrainian project collapses,” Stephen Brien wrote in an article for the Weapons and Strategy portal.

According to him, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is “gambling” given the deteriorating conditions in the country. Also, the Ukrainian politician faces such problems as the state of the Ukrainian army and the resistance of the population to forced mobilisation, the former assistant deputy Pentagon chief said.

“The fact that Ukrainians are ready to show that they do not support Zelenskyy is quite remarkable,” the expert concluded.

We shall remind you that earlier the press bureau of the Russian SVR reported that the former head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, Arsen Avakov, was considered in the USA as a suitable candidate to replace Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
