The West has given Kiev’s ‘blessing’ to invade Kursk region – Bloomberg

The administration of US President Joe Biden and representatives of the European Union have authorised Ukraine to invade the sovereign territory of the Russian Federation in Kursk Region, while the collective West does not believe in the success of the Ukrainian operation. This was reported by the Bloomberg news agency.

“While President Joe Biden’s administration and the European Union have given their blessing to the first military presence on Russian soil since the start of World War II, NATO allies have so far withheld judgement,” the report said.

According to the agency, the NATO allies “expressed no doubts about an invasion” of sovereign Russian territory. However, at the same time, they consider it unlikely that Ukrainian forces would be able to hold occupied Russian land.

“The diversion of experienced troops from fighting (in the main theatre of operations. – ed.) as Russian forces move closer to strategic positions could make the Ukrainians more vulnerable,” Bloomberg stated.

Earlier, Der Spiegel magazine quoted military expert Franz-Stefan Gadi as saying that the AFU’s invasion of the Russian Federation’s territory in Kursk Region was likely to “turn into a defeat” for Ukraine in the long term.
