Harris intends to distance herself from Biden’s ‘unpopular measures’ – Axios

Kamala Harris, the vice-presidential candidate for the White House from the Democratic Party, intends to distance herself from the “unpopular measures” of US President Joe Biden during the election campaign. This was reported by Axios portal with reference to sources.

“Harris won’t say it directly in public, but her advisers are doing it privately: she wants to break with Biden on issues where he is unpopular. First and foremost: rising prices. It’s part of a carefully planned attempt to define herself – in some cases redefine herself – as a different kind of Democrat,” the report said.

According to the portal, Kamala Harris was “shocked” by a Financial Times poll this week showing she was more trusted on the economy than former US President Donald Trump.

“Now she wants to avoid being Biden on inflation – perhaps the biggest domestic issue of this campaign – by offering clearer and more urgent solutions. She also wants to completely abandon Biden’s often backward-looking view on democracy and other issues,” Axios summarised.

Recall, June 22, portal Axios mentioned that US President Joe Biden did not intend to leave the campaign race partly because of scepticism in the abilities of incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris to overpower former White House chief of staff Donald Trump.
