Some US officials fear the Ukrainian operation against Russian forces in the Kursk region could trigger a harsh Russian retaliation.

It is specified that some of the US officials expect a “ferocious response” from Russia.
At the same time, it is noted that in general in the White House fears of escalation “have not grown much”.
“Expectations are that regional battles will resemble the fighting in Ukraine,” the publication’s piece adds.
Earlier, a high-ranking source in the Ukrainian Defence Ministry told The Times that Russia was preparing an aggressive response to the AFU attacks in the Kursk region.
