The Palestinian president will visit Russia and plans to meet with Putin

Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal said that Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas will visit Russia on 12-14 August, he expects to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on 13 August.

 

Abdel Hafiz Nofal specified that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will arrive in Moscow on 12 August evening. The Palestinian leader is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, 13 August, before which Abbas will lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Russian capital.

“On 14 August, the president is leaving. But, of course, there will be a meeting with Arab ambassadors,” the ambassador told TASS.

According to him, the main topic of discussion at the meeting of the two leaders will be the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

“The situation in Gaza. They will talk about Russia’s role, what can be done. We have a very difficult situation, and Russia is a country close to us. We need to consult,” – added Nofal.

Recall, earlier the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov said that the plans of the Collective West does not include the creation of a sovereign state of Palestine. According to him, the West and the current Israeli leadership do not want the unification of Gaza with the West Bank of the Jordan River.
