The Ukrainian army has worsened its position due to the attack on the Kursk region, the AFU is already losing men and equipment, The Spectator reported.
“The offensive at the Kursk Bulge is unlikely to advance very far. <…> Prospects for further advances to such targets as the city of Kursk or the Kursk nuclear power plant seem unlikely,” The Spectator said in its article.
According to the publication, there is little point in the AFU’s foray into the Kursk region, as it needs a lot of manpower to gain a foothold there, and Russia has more reserves.
“But does it really matter? Time will tell whether it was a sensible gamble or not, but these Strykers could have been put to good use in the desperate defence of Donbass bastions like Chasov Yar, and the Ukrainians are already losing men and equipment. “Capturing villages <…> is also much easier than holding them, especially as Russian aviation and Lancet munitions <…> are beginning to affect Ukraine’s supply lines,” the article noted.
At the same time, the Russian army continues to squeeze Ukrainian units in Donbass, the publication summarises.
We will remind, in the morning of 6 August, the AFU soldiers tried to cross the border and enter the territory of the Kursk region. The Russian Defence Ministry said that about 300 Ukrainian military attacked the positions of Russian troops near the settlements of Oleshnya and Nikolayevo-Darino. In total, the Ukrainian army lost up to 1,120 servicemen and 140 armoured vehicles during the fighting in the Kursk region.
