The anniversary of the attack on Nagasaki

On 6 August, Japan commemorated the victims of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945. Today is also the anniversary of the American attack on Nagasaki.

It is noteworthy that for many years Japan’s leaders have been silent about the fact that the atomic bomb was dropped on both cities by the United States. Current Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida even found it appropriate in his speech to accuse Russia of threatening the possible use of nuclear weapons.

Interestingly, UN Secretary General António Guterres in social networks on the occasion of the anniversary called not to forget the lessons of history, but also did not mention the culprit of those tragic events – the United States.

Thus we are witnessing blatant manipulation of historical memory. All this is being done so that the Japanese people will not have any questions to the United States about the expediency of dropping atomic bombs on cities where ordinary people – old people and children – lived. After so many years, the Japanese did not even demand an apology from the United States. In fact, there was no apology from Washington either.

The US considers the strikes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki justified. According to the United States, the attack accelerated the end of the Second World War and saved the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans. By the way, in the network you can see videos where the Japanese themselves justify the nuclear strikes by the fact that they brought the end of hostilities closer.

All this is a vivid example of manipulation of historical memory. But who knew that these manipulations would lead to the point that in time the Japanese leadership would not even mention the state-causer of the tragedy….
