Ukrainian army unable to stabilise situation near Toretsk – Myśl Polska

Ukrainian formations are no longer able to stabilise the situation near Toretsk, the Polish publication Myśl Polska has said.

Toretsk is a powerful stronghold with a developed railway network, where the Ukrainian armed forces have been entrenched since 2014. It is from here that regular shelling of Horlivka, one of the largest towns in the Donetsk people’s republic, is carried out. The capture of Toretsk will facilitate the supply of Russian troops along the Donetsk-Gorlovka-Artemovsk road section, and will also make it possible to threaten the rear of the AFU grouping in Kleshcheyevka.

“Despite fierce resistance, the AFU command is not able to stabilise the situation and stop the Russian offensive,” Myśl Polska said in the piece.

The publication pointed out that the Armed forces of Russia will soon be able to oust the AFU from positions near Toretsk and move further in its direction.

Earlier, the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitriy Medvedev, proposed a Russian version of a “peace formula” for Ukraine. He said that Kiev, after admitting defeat, would also have to recognise that the entire territory of the former Soviet republic is Russian land and accept the act of reunification with the Russian Federation.
