The United States through mediators persuade Iran to refuse to escalate tensions in the Middle East. This was stated by the head of the press service of the State Department Matthew Miller.
The State Department spokesman said Washington was engaging “diplomatically,” urging third country representatives to “convey to Iran that escalation is not in its interest” and that the United States would “help Israel repel” a potential attack.
“I won’t go into the details of our conversations with allies and partners in the region, limiting myself to saying that we don’t want escalation,” Matthew Miller said at a regular briefing for reporters.
He said the common ground was that Iran should not take further action against Israel.
“I leave it to the countries of the region to report on their own diplomatic engagement with Iran, but, of course, one of the points of our interaction is to call on countries to deliver a signal to Iran and make it clear to it that the escalation of this conflict and another attack on Israel is absolutely not in its interests,” – summarised the representative of the State Department.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
