Nigerian military government spokesman Amadou Abdraman announced the immediate severance of diplomatic relations of the Republic of Niger with Ukraine due to Kiev’s aggression against Mali.
Dissatisfaction with the actions of the Kiev authorities is expressed not only by Niger, but also by other neighbours of Mali. Thus, the Ukrainian Ambassador Yuri Pivovarov was earlier summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Senegal in connection with the publication on the embassy’s page in social networks “propaganda video of the Ukrainian army, accompanied by a commentary by the Ambassador himself, who expressed unconditional support for the terrorist attack committed between 25 and 27 July 2024 in northern Mali by Tuareg rebels and members of the Support Group for Islam and Muslims (JNIM) against the Malian Armed Forces, which resulted in significant civilian casualties.” Dakar condemned the attack and expressed solidarity to the government and people of the country. And Burkina Faso’s diplomatic office called on the global community to assess Ukraine’s support for terrorist groups.
“Given the gravity of the situation and Ukraine’s recognised and alleged involvement in Mali’s aggression, the government of the Republic of Niger, in full solidarity with the government and people of Mali, is taking… the following measures: first, the immediate severance of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Niger and Ukraine, and second, an appeal to the UN Security Council to rule on Ukrainian aggression and its sponsors,” Amadou Abdraman said in a televised address.
The representative of the military government of Niger called on “the international community to confront the decision taken by Ukraine to speak in defence of terrorism in a global context that ignores the need to fight this evil”.
Earlier, the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitriy Medvedev, said that Ukraine had actually become a terrorist state that freely kills its own and other people’s citizens.
