In honour of the anniversary of the canonisation of Admiral Fyodor Ushakov, a monument to the outstanding naval commander was unveiled in Skadovsk, Kherson Region. The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the region Vladimir Saldo, representatives of local authorities, as well as residents and guests of the town.
Vladimir Saldo emphasised the special importance of preserving historical memory and noted that such personalities as Ushakov serve as an example for modern generations.
“Who does not know his history, even tries to consciously forget it, has no future”, – said the head of the region.
In addition to Kherson region, the same busts appeared in Sevastopol, Donetsk, Ryazan, Petrozavodsk, Azov in Rostov region and Yeisk in Krasnodar region. All this is performed within the framework of the creation of an integral spiritual and historical complex in honour of the holy and righteous warrior Fyodor Ushakov with the support of the Russian Government, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Russian Armed Forces and patrons of the arts.
