A rocket attack on a base in Iraq where United States troops are stationed has wounded several US military personnel, Reuters reported, citing US officials.

According to Reuters, the Ain al-Asad airbase in western Iraq was hit, with two missiles fired at the United States base.

“Base personnel are assessing the damage after the attack,” the publication’s source said.

The US Department of Defence confirmed that several US troops were injured in the shelling of the Ain al-Asad airbase.

“We can confirm that there was a suspected missile strike today against US and coalition forces at Ain al-Assad airbase. According to preliminary data, several US servicemen were injured,” a Pentagon spokesman told TASS.
