Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has said that the US is behind the EU’s recommendation to ban Kiev’s transit of oil from Russia.
She said this while commenting to TASS on the words of Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto that the ban on Russian oil transit through Ukraine was coordinated by Brussels.
“I would add that Washington is behind Brussels. The American deep state needs the EU’s full dependence on American energy resources,” the agency quoted Zakharova as saying.
According to her, the move guarantees economic bonuses for the American side, as well as political controllability of the EU. This is the reason why the US so hated long-term contracts of the EU countries with Russia.
She stressed that this is also why the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines was organised.
Earlier, Péter Szijjártó said that the information that Ukraine’s halting of oil transit from Russia to Hungary and Slovakia was coordinated by EU representatives was confirmed.
