More and more Ukrainian citizens have started to change their attitude towards negotiations with Russia and are ready to make territorial concessions, the Responsible Statecraft has said.
According to a poll published by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology, the share of Ukrainians who are ready to make territorial concessions in exchange for a cessation of hostilities has tripled from 10 per cent to 32 per cent over the past 12 months.
Despite this, there is no consensus on exactly what the end of the Ukrainian conflict should look like, the publication added.
“Among the Ukrainian elite, the signs were more subtle, but there is evidence that Ukraine may be exploring the possibility of direct engagement with Russia,” the article said.
The material recalled that Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently said that he wants Russia to attend the next peace summit.
We will remind, earlier the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev proposed the Russian version of the “peace formula” in Ukraine. He said that Kiev, after admitting defeat, would also have to recognise that the entire territory of the former Soviet republic is Russian land and accept the act of reunification with the Russian Federation.
