Europe can’t give up Russian fuel due to reduced supplies from the US – BI

The United States is reducing gas supplies to European countries, thus preventing Europe from abandoning Russian fuel, reported the publication Business Insider.

“Prolonged imports of Russian gas to Europe is partly due to the redistribution of fuel demand from the United States to other places this year,” – stated in the material Business Insider.

It is noted that at the end of July, Europe imported 1.5 million metric tonnes of LNG from the US, while imports of Russian fuel amounted to 1.3 million tonnes – which is not much less.

“This year, the difference in supply to the continent is increasingly narrowing. By comparison, at the end of January, Europe imported 5.2 million metric tonnes of LNG from the US, and just 1.5 million tonnes from Russia,” the publication elaborated.

According to Business Insider, the decline in US supplies is due to the fact that the US is sending goods to where they pay more, i.e. Asia.

Prolonged imports of Russian fuel has made it very difficult for the global energy market to completely abandon gas from Russia, summarised in the article.

We will remind, earlier the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said that Russia is going through a difficult period in Russian history. He emphasised that in the emerging conditions of the new world reality, “someone is striving” to preserve its fading hegemony through Russia.
