Blinken sent a message to Iran asking it not to respond to Haniyeh’s assassination

U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, through a Qatari counterpart, sent a message to Iran asking it not to respond to the assassination of Hamas politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh, CNN reported, citing a source.

Hamas politburo chief Haniyeh was killed on the night of 31 July. The Palestinian movement confirmed the death of one of its leaders, calling the attack treacherous and blaming it on “Zionists”.

According to CNN, Anthony Blinken held a conversation with Qatar’s head of government and foreign ministry, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani.

“U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Wednesday asked Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani to convey messages to Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah,” the piece said.

The TV channel added that the Sheikh of Qatar promised to fulfil the request.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting its essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
